In the beginning, there were three dragons. They existed in the cosmos and were unaware of each other until the day they met. Before this point, all three had believed themselves to be the greatest being in the universe. And so they fought. Eventually, they all fell, the injuries from the battles causing all three to collapse together. The mighty magic that made up their bodies mingling until all three dragons were merged into this world, Dragonia. Chaos formed the Core, Lifa the Oceans and Void made the Sky.
The dragon's magic leaked into the surface and the life that appeared on the surface had access to this great force. But the life was not alone. Two other forces from space had arrived, entities in dire opposition who were yet afraid of the beings on this world of Dragonia. And so they tried to convince the life to join them and so the war began. The war of Light and Dark, backed by people bearing the power of dragons who slowly came to worship the two entities. Unfortunately, the war ended as the two entities had hoped. Three great seals were placed and the power of the dragons was forever sealed.
And so Dragonia fell away, the world of elements and dragons was no more, now it was ruled by the forces of Light and Dark. But, there are rumblings. That in this world of black and white colour is slowly beginning to return...
Magic
Magic is an effect caused by a living creatures energy. This is the boiled down truth of magic in this world, call it what you will, a special technique, ki, psychic power, it's all magic under a different guise with tweaked mechanics. Magic is always bound to an elemental allignment but since once of them is 'None', it isn't madly restricted. Magic by it's natures allows various supernatural powers to the user beyond just being able to use techniques. As a default, all magic users are capable of greater strength, endurance and self-healing than a normal person. There are 9 core elements which make up the bulk of the magical world. Unfortunately, due to machinations of unknown beings, there are barely any users of the core elements left on Noria.
The majority of magic on Noria is through the 3 'advanced' elements. These seem to exist as a combination of aspects of the 9 elements. Most evidenced in the fact the advanced elements allow weak facisimiles of the core elements. Generally speaking, despite their advantage in being able to use all 9 elements, advanced and core magic is equally balanced due to core magic being far more specialised (quality over quantity). But due to some nature of the magic, they also have a standardised 'evolution' form. In times of extreme emotion, Light users become blond with a Halo (called 'Angel'), Dark users become raven-haired with horns (called 'Devil') and Blank users gain a third eye and grey pupils (called 'Sage'). All three of these evolved forms greatly increase all parameters making them highly dangerous.
-The Elements-
[Light]- Element of Light, has greater control over the three elements contained in light's seal. Light based magic, usually beams
[Fire]- Control over heat, flame and fire in general.
[Earth]- Control over rocks, the ground and sand
[Metal]- Control over metal, steel and magnetic manipulation
[Dark]- Element of Dark, has greater control over the three elements contained in dark's seal. Dark based magic, solid black beams
[Ice]- Control over cold, frost and ice in general.
[Wind]- Control over the wind, often resembling telekinesis, weather in general
[Lightning]- Control over electricity
[None]- The Blank Element, usually a featureless grey mist or grey shapes, has greater control over the three elements in the blank seal.
[Water]- Control over water, liquid in general
[Healing]- Ability to restore health and repair damage
[Poison]- Ability to inflict direct harm, weaken and break down

The World
Currently, Noria is split into two empires. The Empire of Light, dominating the Eastern land-mass with an affluent ruling class and somewhat less affluent serf class. Generally arranged in villages and towns with a few capital cities. Towns usually have at least one resident Magus to help fend off Monster attacks. The actual cities and towns are probly the same as we have them before all this reboot jazz. The Empire of Light has a number of soldiers to fight their battles but the greatest of these are known as the Serafin. The Serafin's sworn duty is to repress all evil magic, evil being anything not Light. This means that the majority of soldiers who possess light magic are told to destroy anyone they encounter who uses different magic. The bulk of Light magic users are born and live in the Eastern continent.
The Empire of Dark is similar but with a somewhat stricter ruling majority, the Lords of Hell. While the people who use and possess the Dark element aren't evil, the Lords of Hell generally live up to their name by being significantly more evil than most. Generally the Lords will own a city to themselves but congregate in Castle Round when they wish to plot a means of attack. The people of their continent do live in relative peace, quite a few being monsters, but are often at the whims of their capricious masters. The Dark aren't as opposed to the use of other magic but they do see a need to subdue and dominate them, or at least the Lords of Hell do.
While there is no Empire of Blank, it is believed a number of users live in the oceans, using magic to survive the inhospitable environment. Users of the Blank elements litter the world in various places and are generally accepted. Exactly where the Blank element came from is still unclear but users can appear almost anywhere. They have special dispensation in the Empire of Light and are usually treated with curtesy. Far more than users of Dark get.
The war between the Empires is well documented and seems to have simmerered down in recent centuries, ever since the sealing of the core elements. It's been so long that most people don't even remember the story of how the planet formed or that the 9 Elements even existed. Those who wield the 9 are practically unheard of in Noria, but there are landmasses not included in either island, notably the Ashlands of Zolan. Those who develop these abilities inside either Empire are running a great risk...

Races
Humans- General meat-sacs, most proficient in magic, also the only possible carriers of the 9 core of the three standard races. Live everywhere, come in a variety of races and creeds. Wider array of hair and eye colours than on our world. Sadly, they're also the weakest physically, a non-magical human being is at great risk in Noria.
Elves- Beings of light, thinner, more beautiful and with ears more pointy-er than their human brethren. Elves are only capable of Light Magic under normal circumstances (although they can converted by the Dark into 'Dark Elves'). Incredibly long-lived, they're physically superior to humans and it takes a skilled and potent human mage to equal an average elf. The elves are slightly less adept at actually using magic however.
Monsters- Catchall term for normal organic entities that have been turned into other shapes by Dark magic. Monsters can come in a huge range of shapes, sizes and intelligences but generally are only capable of rudimentary magic in exchange for being the most powerful physically. Generally, a monster cannot revert to a human-like form and is trapped, but there are exceptions

Techniques
Same as before, Class I, II and III but add that if you have a core element you have basic control/blasts/attacks from that element without stating and the other bits like sensing magic, flight or other stuff is now on the list.
