Just thought you might like to know what's going down with me.

So, I've been telling everyone I'm almost certainly going to Oxford. For the last, what is it, year or so. I was certain I'd be able to get the grades to get through to what has statistically been the best university in the country for years.

I didn't.


I got As in my two Mathematics subjects, and a B in German. A fairy hefty B. It wasn't that close to an A since my actual written exams got me Ds, and were balanced out by speaking and coursework, and my exams last year. Oxford examined all my results to consider my place, and decided that my maths results weren't good enough (i.e. not all over 90%, although every module was an A), so they didn't give me a place.

Luckily, I got a 2 in STEP1, a hard-ass paper that is required for the University of Warwick. So I'm going there, and I've got mates there, so it's not too bad. It's a good university. 3rd best, I think.
But, I'm still bummed. Since I nearly had the gold, and ended up with the bronze.

I just thought I'd tell you all this, since this is during my 4th beer of the day at 6pm, and I'm going clubbing later. I've got no garuntees that I'll be on for at least a day or two. Just so you know.

Wow dude, I feel for you.

I wont be corney and say I know how you feel and everything, because frankly I don't - I'm nowhere near as smart as you and I never even considered going to uni, let alone somewhere as big as Oxford. But even so, I know what it feels like to feel so confident you'll get something and then have it slip away.

But never fear, like you said, there are som good points to going where you are. You just have to focus on the better points of everything, to be positive. Hey, 3rd best isn't so bad considering everything!

I feel for you, but hey, if you get bronze when you shoot for gold, at least you WENT to the Olympics. ^^

Have fun clubbin', I'm still too young to drink. A year and a few more months!
