Out-Of-Character Rules:
Non-Playable Characters: Non-Playable Characters (or NPC's), are characters that are used by almost every member who writes on this site. An NPC allows you to develop your stories about your character, move a slow-moving topic around a bit, or maybe just give you the ability to play with someone different from time to time. All Characters are allowed to use NPC's, but in order to keep that a continuous effort, please keep the following applied:
- Do not use NPC's more than you do your regular character.
- If you can, try and involve your original character in the setting.
Special Administrative Characters: Special Administrative Characters (or SAC's) are characters that are more advanced than the standard NPC. Special Administrative Characters are special characters-- usually with their own profile-- and are owned specifically by the site. These include deities, world leaders, and other worldly heroes. They have a specific purpose to the site, and they are not meant to be used on a regular basis by a member. To be allowed to use an SAC, you must have prior permission to use the character from an administrator or moderator. The same rules for NPC's apply for SAC's.
Clause to the SAC Rule 01: Positions without a name next to them do not have a character assigned and can be played temporarily by any character until someone is appointed to the position permanently. Characters may also challenge the current characters for their position. You are free to create characters and positions for the SAC roster, (viewable under the members' section) but please remember that any character made specifically as an SAC will be property of the site, unless purchased as a second character.
Clause to the SAC Rule 02: Several of the characters on the SAC page-- even though they are special characters-- are owned by members of this RPG. In these cases, only the member who holds ownership of the said character is allowed to use them. (Or, you must have their permission to use them instead of the permission of an administrator.)
OOC Board/Spamming: The OOC board is made for any long "Out Of Character" posts on the RPG. Please keep everything PG-13 or less, and all of the other normal rules apply as well.
Spamming is sometimes considered a problem, yet with the current release of ProBoards Version 4, spamming will be less-enforced than before; simply put, it is tolerated to an extent, but when it is done excessively, it gets aggravating, and action will be made. Spamming includes:
- Posting One Word/Sentence (Ever noticed how it's sometimes hard to load a page, just so you can read a "yeah" comment?)
- Posting off Topic (Example: Posting about dragons in a thread about soccer)
- Double-Posting (There is an edit button people!)
Now although these are not the only cases of spamming, these are the most common cases of it. In most cases, it will be ignored, but other things that will happen include-- but not limited to-- deletion of post, reduction of post count, and if serious enough, suspension or banning. Be careful about how much you spam!
Avatar/Signature Sizes: Avatars and Banners (better known as sigs at graphic forums) are creative ways to add spice to the sides of your posts and create an original image for your profile. But for those of you who have slow-working computer networks (such as dial-up), you may have tedious loading times due to these images. In your profile, there is the ability to not display these images. (Just find the drop-down menus that say "Display Avatars" and "Display Signatures," and just change the selection from yes to no.)
This is not a full rule and will not be enforced as one, but it is rather a notice of the limits allowed on the forums. Regulated by ProBoards, avatars cannot exceed 100 pixels by 100 pixels. Signatures are regulated by the staff, but this rule is less enforced. Under each post will be a box that will hold your sig. It is capable of holding an image up to a 500 pixels by 150 pixels. After this size is exceeded, the box will become scrollable. The only limit to the signature is the amount of characters you can use inside of it (once again, regulated by ProBoards). This limit is 400 characters.
