General Rules:
Character Acceptance: NO CHARACTER FROM ANY COPYRIGHTED SOURCE-- THAT IS NOT YOUR ORIGINAL WORK-- WILL BE ACCEPTED!!! If you send in an application involving a character from a copyrighted source, it will just be ignored. (However, if you are the owner of the copyright, it is fine if you choose to bring in the work; you will be asked to prove copyright, however.) You are allowed to use a character's image for your own character, but beyond appearance, everything should be your own, original work!
Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the act of taking someone else's words, phrases, thoughts, or ideas and claiming them to be your own, original work (dictionary.com). The act of plagiarism is a serious crime in the writing world, for it takes the blood, sweat, and tears someone else has put into their own masterpiece. It does not make you look cool, or better, or smart.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form on Secrets of Noria. If you are caught plagiarizing in any way, shape, or form, you will be given a week after a notification to make the appropriate changes to your profile; if complied to, there will be no further punishment on your part for the act; however, if you do not make the appropriate changes, your account will be unapproved for an indefinite amount of time (you will be unsuspended when we get the changes in a post and accepted/confirmed by one of the staff members). If you are caught plagiarizing a second time, it will be the final straw; you will be permanently banned with no chance of appeal.
Detail: In simplest terms, include as much detail with your posts as you can. We do not ask that you go into so much detail that you have to write essays per post. A basic rule of thumb would be around a couple paragraphs with some detail. Also, do not use run-on sentences for an entire paragraph; "I'm not a very good writer," is not an excuse, because compound/complex sentence structures and paragraphs are studied by fourth graders. If you're not a fourth grader yet, then...uh...I do not know... However, if you compare the next two paragraphs, you will exactly what we mean.
- What We Do Not Want - It was quiet at the borders of Illasa. Very quickly, the Saiyans had destroyed Noria. First went the Void, then Menith, followed quickly by Raoush and Keldrach before Ithroia and New Civea, thanks to the help of the people of the Zelios Waste who had made the best decision in this war choosing to surrender and side with the Saiyans instead of fighting them. Soon enough the Saiyans would turn against the Zelio army once they had taken over Noria but this maybe the meanwhile would give the Zelios enough time to create a plan.
- What We Do Want - Silence. Perhaps the most difficult item to locate on Noria, and thanks to current events, it was all the more rare. To discover it resting within the borders of Illasa, in the middle of a war no less, was nothing short of a miracle. Though it had been a short while, the Saiyans had took to Noria like a flock of vultures to a fresh corpse; leaving nothing but destruction in their wake. First came the Void, then Menith, followed shortly by the swift occupations of Raoush and Keldrach; soon after, in possibly one of the most disgusting showcases of massacre in Norian history, the fall of Ithroia and New Civea. During this time, it was the residents of the Zelio Waste who arguably made the best decision in this war; choosing to surrender and side with the invaders rather than fighting against them. The Saiyan forces would positively turn against the Zelio military once their goals were reached, but this "treaty" granted the Zelios with enough time to create a counter plan.</li>
Do you see the difference? But, of course, we do understand that sometimes you will have writers block or something like that (For example, you only can reply with one line towards the current response because of vagueness). Just try not to do it excessively. (Note: The better of the two writings above was written by Aion, and the worse version specifically done by Ryan. Thanks to both writers!)
Swearing: Try to keep swearing at a minimal. We understand you can make a point and show your characters personality better by using these, sometimes, but try not to. Words like damn, crap, and hell are okay to use without any punishment (unless you abuse this way too much). Words that are racist or segregate someone directed to in OOC format (for example, calling someone a cock on the OOC board is different from a character calling another one a cock) are not permitted.
Sexual Content: There is no problem with two characters (or more, I guess...) having any form of sexual intercourse. But there are only two things we ask you do before you go into it. First of all, things such as kissing, hugging, and flirting, et cetera, are okay, but if it goes over PG-13, then make a warning somewhere in your thread before you go into it. Secondly, if you are someone who doesn't like this kind of stuff, then just don't read it. It is not our problem if you get offended. But if someone goes into it without warning, please notify us...and pray for our damned souls, if you must.
