Falkan stood silently at the edge of a cliff lost among the nameless peaks of Bedoe. Vidrek perched nearby, faithfully keeping watch over his master where he had stood, unmoving, for nearly a week. That's how long it had taken for his memory of the encounter with Dramanius to fully return. His mental accuity was another story. Even now his thoughts were sluggish, and he couldn't help but wonder if the damage was permanent. He had crossed a threshold with an out of control transformation, and the unprecedented power it yielded had come at a price. He needed advice from another V'alcan, and unfortunately the only one not out to kill him was insane. Dealing with this problem was going to require another trip to Faeredone. Apps had warned him to limit his jumps from dimension to dimension, since they weren't certain what the effects might be. With his business on Dragonia still barely begun, Reval hated to leave, but having no alternative, he withdrew Rhiannon and carved a purple gash into the night sky. With a low whistle for Vidrek and one long look at the barren, but familiar landscape of Bedoe, Reval stepped from one world into another. Little did he know what impact his decision would have, or how the world would be changed upon his return. For just hours after Falkan's departure, Dragonia's mightiest warriors fell one by one to a mysterious unconsciousness, and the planet itself was plunged into disaster.
Some would say Bedoe fared the best of all when compared to other lands in the cataclysm. Given its already barren, harsh climate, the change in the land of Bedoe was nowhere near as drastic as the disappearance of the North pole, or the incineration of several other nations. Still, the silent mountain ranges suffered a cruel fate all their own. If Bedoe was a no man's land before, it was nothing short of a nightmare now. The jagged peaks were made all the more inhospitable as they were now coated in ice and snow, with perpetual blizzard conditions from which only the deepest and most hidden of valleys provided any form of shelter. Temperatures even during the day were extremely cold, allowing no life to survive unaided. The few trees and plants that had scratched out a life on the lower elevations of the land were now nothing more than massive icicles, and whatever animals had called the land home were completely gone. As far as the eye could see in any direction - which, given the wind, snow, and ice swirling through the air wasn't very far at all - was only frozen wasteland.
And Bedoe suffered the least...
