Saga: To Begin Anew the Fight

[chameleon]

Chameleon stood back, surprised by them being consumed in a black cacoon. He quickly glanced over seeing a new boy in the fray, not sure if he was friend or foe, but he was standing too close to Shizuka at the moment. Cham jolted over standing between Shizuka and this new boy, putting up a hand towards Shizuka letting a stream of Channeled Force pour into Shizuka to heal the wounds he took, at least partly.

He brought the Nirvana up pointing it at Xaphael. "Who are you?" He said stopping the channeled force and glancing quickly at Kihaku and Shizuka.

He yelled loudly, not taking his eyes from Xaphael. "Kihaku, what's happening, do you know this person?" he said the Nirvana level with the boys head, a fierce emerald green shone in Cham's eyes.

When Cham called to Kihaku, he turned towards the newcomer and looked at him dead on, his crimson glare boring into the angel from within the gloomy depths of his hood. He advanced on the holy warrior, and when he stopped as far as Cham had, a dozen shadow forms dropped out of the trees, surrounding the quartet. Their black bodies, perfect copies of Kihaku, stared facelessly at Xaphael, arms hanging limp at their sides, awaiting orders.

The Chaos Spirit continued to look over the newcomer before holding out his hand for the Nirvana. "Welcome to the fight Xaphael. Though I am not bound nor follow the rules set by either He nor man, I'm sure your master would approve." Taking the blade, he slid it home, the hilt making a slight metallic click as it rested within it's sheath, vibrating so slightly one would have to hold it to feel it.

Looking over to the pair of maleficent cocoons, his mood downshifted a few notches at the very thought of what those two oblong shapes might portend. The Oblivion gave a very noticeable shudder on his back, looking only as if it were merely a black staff, and Kihaku turned back to the trio. "Cham and I are going to finish off Cerberus. Shizuka, you and your ally take out Sphinx. I don't know what they'll be like when they emerge, but don't expect anything easy. Be ready for anything."

Xaphael couldn't help but laugh as Kihaku addressed him, the fact that Kihaku was under the mistaken thought that Xaphael was still a servant of God was rather ironic. He nodded to his fellow combatants as he tightened his grip on his blade, waiting to see what would emerge from the black cocoons.

"Thank you, although I am no servant of God, I will still see this battle to the end with you. And you must not worry," he could not help but grin as he addressed the one he assumed was Cham, "I was simply protecting Shizuka in your absence. There is something I must discuss with her, and it would be a difficult endeavour if she were dead."

He kept his eyes on the cocoon that was Sphinx, unable to keep himself from grinning as he waited in anticipation. In the end, it had worked out rather well to locate Shizuka, because he was now going to get a battle worth fighting.

She stared at Cham while he was healing her and when he had his back to her, she was so confused right now. This "Angel" appeared and knew things about her, but she's never seen him before. She was happy though there was someone else like her. She was just confused on the whole matter. Maybe he could help her get strong again and overcome the pain of tranforming. Standing up she looked at Kihaku and nodded Going towards Xaphael raising her fist in a defensive manner "Right now all i know is how to protect myself, and as you can see that isnt any better right now. Lets get this over with and get out of this place" she said bluntly and plainly. When she was confused she was cold with her words.

"What do you mean, 'In my absence'!?" Cham snarled putting the blade back towards the angel. "I was trying to kill that..." nodding back at the cacoon containing Cerberus, "thing. I was keeping an eye on Shizuka, I wouldnt let anything happen to her!" He said a bit pissed at the fact that this angel seem to question his ability to protect her.

"And in doing so, you were over there while she was over here with that Sphinx person. It wasn't an avoidable situation, but it still would have been extremely inconvenient for me if Shizuka got killed in battle," Xaphael calmly replied as he kept watching the cocoon in front of him, his eyes beginning to glow.

We have a major threat to deal with and all this boy can think about is his pride regarding Shizuka..... gah, pride is such a useless thing. And just what are these beings...... I've never seen anything like them before..... what power could they possess? What ability? I must find out..... Xaphael grinned as he thought to himself, his eyes never once leaving the cocoon.

"So, Shizuka," Xaphael spoke, his eyes never leaving the cocoon, "Are you ready for whatever comes out of that cocoon? I can't have you being killed in battle, so if you don't think you're up for it then you need to escape now. However, if you are, your help would be greatly appreciated, seeing as how you're an angel too."

He closed his eyes as the runes on the D'Illuminados sword began to glow, the wind slightly picking up around him. After a moment of this state of meditation, he reopened his eyes, his gaze once more returning to the cocoon, and the runes on his sword glowing brightly.

She stared up at Xaphael just shocke to see someone like her. When asking if she could help with her being an Angel also, she looked down. She knew she would be able to for a moment with getting hurt by whatever is in the cacoon. "I cant help..." she mummbled. "Im not allowed to transform infront of people...." she looked up again at Xaphael "Im basically useless in this world since they all consist of people!"

There was deep, sinister ripping sound as a set of five sharp nails began rip through the black cocoon that held Sphinx within it's dark clutches. From within, a deep grumbling hissing could be heard, stopping and starting as if it were a malignant giggling from some unspeakable evil. At the same time, the counterpart to Sphinx's cocoon began to steam, black vapor curling and swirling from it's surface as it's perfectly oblong shape began to warp and fall, an immense heat within enough to begin the melting process.

The dozen shadow forms, without a spoken command, leapt and dashed right at Kihaku, disappearing as they made contact. Instantly, the Spirit's power level skyrocketed, and the deep purple aura began to mist from his limbs and upper body like smoke from a smoldering fire. Reaching with his right hand over his left shoulder and across his waist with his left, his right hand gripped the black staff on his back, his left gaining hold of the hilt of the Nirvana. With a sharp tug, both weapons came free, the blade of the Nirvana singing a beautifully decadent song, while the black staff suddenly shot out a blade of it's own, a curved, silvery affair that activated the dark, sinister song of the Oblivion. The scythe gave a very visible shudder as it's evil intentions flooded Kihaku, the Nirvana giving it's own shake as it moved to counteract the vile thoughts it's brother weapon was attempting to manifest.

A huge pool of blackness formed just behind the group as a whole, fully twenty feet wide, and pulsating with chaotic feelings. From wtihin it's depths, a huge creature began to rise, a huge flattened head with tiny yellow spots of light for eyes, a chest the size of an elephant, arms as thick around as tree trunks, and legs disproportionately small to it's gigantic stature. Small wings were fixed onto it's back as a symbolic reminder of it's capability for flight. Kihaku finally made some sort of sound as he began to pant with effort, only this time, it was the effort of restraint.

The Dark Golem wanted to be loosed, and his blades wanted blood.

Turning towards the trio, the once calm and collected Chaos Spirit was gone, a maniacle smile fixed upon his face and his crimson eyes glowing with an inner flame of wanton destruction. [glow=black,2,300]"Sphinx is mine, you three concentrate on Cerberus. Don't get in my way."[/glow] He hissed the last sentence before turning back to the specified cocoon, a huge lion-like paw pushing it's way out of the grotesque chrysallis.

"So you do have power then Shizuka...... well, you can help after all. You don't have to transform, just channel your power into me, that should give me quite an edge to fight with against Cerberus," Xaphael nodded as a wide grin came across his face. The battle was now upon them, and it was battle that he had personally lived for. After all, it was even what he had been created for.

He watched as the new figure began bursting out of the dark cocoon, a rank odor emenating from it, and the aura of darkness radiating like nothing he had ever felt before. This being..... whatever it was...... was true darkness. Xaphael took a deep breath as he entered a battle stance, the runes engraved into his blade shining with his lust for battle, the only true fuel he had besides his life force for his power. He flapped his wings a bit as he stood, keeping himself and his companions cool as well as the dark vapors near the cocoon.

"Alright Cham," he said as he adressed his sword-wielding partner against this foe, "Let's throw this misunderstanding aside and take care of this threat shall we? It can't be good for either of us."

Cham pulled his sword from it's green tabard ( because evidently Kihaku has the Nirvana back ) and nodded at Xaphael. "Just dont get in my way angel, I'm not worried about keeping you alive and healed." He said putting himself in a ready stance.

He didnt like this power coming from Kihaku. It was frightening, something he never felt come from his teacher before. The look in his eyes was as if it wasnt even Kihaku anymore. Whoever it was, Cham would just have to be careful.

Cham tensed his body, pumping himself up like Kihaku had taught him, a bright green aura surrounding Cham. This wasnt Channeled Force, but he had that at the ready just in case anything should happen to Shizuka or Kihaku. This other boy, the angel Xapahael, was none of his concern, though he would most likely heal him if he was down, he just had to say that because, after being a student under Kihaku for so long, he had developed some of his mannerisms.

Shizuka grabbed her arm getting frightened with all this darkness around them. She didnt like this feeling at all and was worried about kihaku being in this place with these baddies. She just wanted to pull Kihaku away and let him be good. She didnt care if he was neither good or bad. She just didnt want him to disappear.

She heard Xaphael say she would still be of use to atleast him maybe and she nodded. She wanted to help in anyway, and she knew she was a distraction from being so weak right now. she ran to a tree and stared at Cham and Xaphael, she didnt want to be in the way when everything started but she was going to tranfer some of her power to him as long as she can.

Continuing to stare she felt her powers want to come and defend and help. Her Angel side was trying to get out, seeing people in danger and wanting to help. /please be careful guys....dont get hurt..../ she whispered in her mind. Xaphael could feel a little bit of power inside him, if it helped him or not would be a mystery to her. She just kept concentrating on being of help. She was trying not to be in the way, but focusing like this make her even more valnuable.

Finally, the monsters began to emerge from their abhorrent chrysallis, reborn as the butterfly is when it re-enters life. Sphinx was the first to appear, squeezing it's mammoth body from the cocoon, amazing that such a huge mass of monstrous flesh could even be contained in something no bigger than a person. It's body was that of a lion, but as large as a fully grown bull elephant. It's face was still the female visage before she'd transformed, and from her back sprouted black eagle's wings, the huge wingspan evident before it folded them next to it's back. Razor sharp, needle like teeth were in evidence as the thing smiled at the group, and a swish of it's tail revealed it was tipped with spikes, most like a mace.

Cerberus ripped free of his melting cocoon, changed entirely, unrecognizeable from his previous form. The construction of his body was like that of a centaur, though the appearance was canine. The lower half of his body was wolf-like, four legged, with a tail, and fur. His upper body was humanoid, though his muscles were much more well-defined and much grown in size. It's head and face were now like that of a jackal, longer than most dogs, though still very fierce. His arms were also tipped with heads where the hands should have been, growling and snarling just as if they were on shoulders. The monster streached for a moment before turning to the trio set to defeat him, and smiled a sinister canine, fanged grin.

Kihaku was the first on the attack, the Golem speeding past the group with unexpected speed. Still, Sphinx was faster, swinging it's huge spiked tail with enough force to utterly decimate the Golem, forcing it out of existence entirely. Kihaku had been directly behind his creation, and sprung into action with a downwards slash of the Oblivion and a similar attack with the Nirvana. Both attacks slipped right through the creature, as the after-image faded away, Kihaku was instantly on the alert for any sort of warning.

Cerberus wasn't slow on the uptake either, breathing in deeply and throwing both hands forward, and with a loud roar like that of a primeval hell hound, black fire spewed forth with purpose, fanning out just enough to engulf the trio if they didn't move quick enough. Soon to follow, Cerberus ran along the flames as if they were a solid surface, coming down on Xaphael with the head on it's shoulders to bite and tear at his right trapezius muscle.

Cham, seeing the blast of black fire coming, turned towards where Shizuka was. She was no match for out running this blaze, and she couldnt fly. He bolted towards her, shooting off the ground in a green blur; amazing what someone could do it a panic state. He grabbed her around the waist and shot off the ground once again, into the air and heaved her upwards, seeing the black fire catching up. As she went into the air, the black fire caught Cham in the legs, burning him something fearce, most likely his legs wont be usable on ground for a little while.

He nearly yelped in pain as he caught Shizuka again putting her down onto the ground without landing himself, for that would make the pain much more severe. He managed to put out what parts of his pants were still on fire. "Stay safe Shizuka, I want you to concentrate on keeping away from the flames, if you can manage to send some energy towards that angel, try it, but dont get too close."

Cham shot back towards Cerberus without waiting for a response, already feeling that his leg was developing blisters. Cham's whole body glew a brighter green as he readied his Channeled Lighting web, only doing what he had only done once before, spreading the bolts of lighting into many shots instead of just one. He made it close enough to Cerberus letting loose the Channeled Energy within his body. His figure seemed to dissapear in a green light as bolts of lightning shot out in many directions. He had no worries for Kihaku, he was quick enough to dodge these bolts and Shizuka was far enough to be able to take cover, though he didnt know about the other angel.

Cham, recovering from the blast, retreated from his position close to Cerberus, though he kept on a defensive should the beast attack while he was in it's midst. If luck rang true, maybe some of the bolts would strike Sphinx, though he didnt hold much thought in that. He was pretty sure that because of their sizes, they werent as angile and quick as before.

Xaphael quickly jumped backwards as he saw the black flames emerge from the beast, using his wings to lift himself even further back. His dodge maneuver wasn't satisfactory he soon realized as he noticed the beast charging towards him at incredible speed. He had moved far enough backwards to dodge the beast, but combat will still be difficult if it continued this pattern. Utilizing the said space, he quickly rolled to the side as Cerebrus neared him, spinning as swinging his sword towards the demon's side.

He quickly lifted himself into the air with his wings, just in time to avoid the green lightning blasts that were radiating from Chameleon. Despite the conditions the opening of the battle had presented, Xaphael couldn't help but grin to himself. Finally, a battle worth fighting, something he hadn't had in ages! The flow of angelic energy he was beginning to feel flow into him only furthered his excitement, for now he was being filled with raw holy energy!

"Chameleon, I'm going to try to take the fight to this beast on the ground so I can focus my energy more efficiently. Keep blasting it and I'll try to use this new power Shizuka is granting me to weaken the bloody thing!" he spoke, quickly landing on his feet as he grinned, staring at his foe. He held his hand out as he focused his energy on the beast, watching as holy flame began erupting out of its side. The energy Shizuka was providing him with turned out to be the perfect catalyst for his powers after all.

Shizuka sat in the area Cham took her too and held onto her knees tightly with her arms Watching the fighting ground intensely. Her body was shaking with so much evil and she felt nausated. Cham was already hurt and that was because he was protecting her. She felt so bad right now but continued to snd her power flowing over to Xaphael to maybe end this fight quickly.
