Garoten grimaced at the taller of the two strangers' answer.
Always with the tough guy acts...
The younger one made the matter all the worse by stepping in and readying his sword. It was nothing short of a miracle in Garoten's mind that Nishaio hadn't already killed them both where they stood, but the teacher made no further movement. He was simply standing, swords extended in front of him, glaring at the boy with the strange eyes. There must have been something in Nishiao's code of honor keeping him in check for the moment, although the Tenjou's code was still in large part a mystery to the student. Gaining no guidance from his trainer, Garoten sighed and raised his hands in a sign of non-aggression.
"Whoa, whoa. Why can you warriors never just answer a simple question? Relax. Nishaio and I just woke up to find the jungle gone and replaced by ash. Every continent on the planet is just the same - completely void of life. You two are the only other people we've seen, and we're in no hurry to kill the only other people alive at this point."
He took a glance back at Nishaio and turned back with a grin.
"So I wouldn't test our patience right now."
The training had changed Garoten. He'd always been courageous, but the strength he found in his abilities gave him a confidence he'd never had before. That strength, combined with the fact that the second greatest warrior on the planet (in his opinion) had his back made the boy feel he could take on anything - even whatever force had destroyed Dragonia. Still, better to determine what that was than walk around picking fights with the few living creatures left.

His gaze now shifted from the warrior with the readied weapons to the youth, his flippant additude and cocky nature was just beginning to grate on Kihaku's nerves, and though it was indeed the silent one that had the weapons drawn, it was usually words that precipitated wars. Right now, if he or Cham lost their patience, it's the youth that was the more dangerous of the pair.
"The feeling is mutual, boy. Returning from the land of the dead to find your home world in much the same condition has a habit of putting a person on edge." Inhaling, zen, then exhaling, his level of stress lowered a few pegs before he spoke again.
"To make sure things do not escalate, introductions should be made," he motioned towards his companion, indicating that his companion should put his sword to rest, "Chameleon, new resident from offworld. I am Kihaku Sagaku, Wandering Persecutor of the Chaos Spirits." He gave a slight nod towards Nishiao, but gave no such indication to Garoten.

Cham was staring at the younger of the two, the one who claimed not to test their patience. This kid was around Cham's age and Cham didn't like to be spoken down to like that. This child knew nothing about Cham and wouldn't possibly know if Cham was strong enough for battle with him or not.
"Cockiness like that will get you killed one day kid," Cham said pushing his sword back into the scabbard and turned back to Kihaku, standing next to him.
He looked to Nishiao, finally remembering. "You were at the battle with Dramanius, were you not? I believe I had to keep healing you because you put out so much energy and wearing yourself out." Cham said watching them both closely. Cham was pretty sure it was him, but Dramanius had made everything so foggy that it was hard to be completely sure.

Kihaku's introduction sat well with Garoten, but Chameloen's did not. He could sense Nishaio felt the same...especially after the kid's remark about Nishaio 'wearing himself out'. The Tenjou warrior tensed just a little, but nodded to affirm Chameloen’s question and sheathed his swords. Clearly he saw the two as no longer being a threat, but if he saw them as friends, his student had a different opinion. Garoten was mystified by his teacher's sudden development of patience, but thankful not to have to fight just yet. It was times like this he wondered why Nishaio refused to speak, even to put down the arrogance of another. Best he could figure, it had something to do with a code of honor. Nishaio only spoke to those he deemed worthy of his attention, and so far nobody on Dragonia had rated.
He made a point not to respond to Chameleon. For someone who disliked cockiness, it seemed strange for the boy to be referring to him as ‘kid’. From appearances, Chameleon couldn’t be that much older, possibly even the same age. There was something about him that made Garoten feel irritated – not angry, just troubled. It was like something very important was missing in the off-worlder, but there was no way to define what it was. Although he couldn’t sense power levels since waking up, he was sure that if he could, the other boy’s would be nothing so impressive as to change his opinion. At any rate, Kihaku seemed more worthy of both Garoten’s attention and trust at the moment. Chameleon had a ways to go.
He bowed slightly to Kihaku and returned the polite, allbeit standoffish indtroduction.
“Greetings, Kihaku. I am Garoten Reklor, from Esperanza in Nasrad. This is my trainer, Nishiao Shimata. I’m sure we’re probably on the same side – given none of the four of us is responsible for this destruction.”

"Obviously," was all Kihaku could manage at this point. Thankfully, the silent one, seemed to have already determined this situation safe enough to stow his weapons for now, which, thankfully, would undoubtedly alleviate Cham's nerves.
A happy apprentice means a happy journey.
However, that did not seem to be the case this time. Already, Kihaku had returned to a posessed friend, a dead planet, and a pair of random individuals who were ready to attack them at the drop of a hat. This wasn't the start of a good return home. Still, needs must as the devil drives, so for the moment the two of them were just going to have to suck it up and work with Nishaio and Garoten towards the common goal of finding out just what the hell had happened.
"I can see two possible solutions. First, we wander about aimlessly to find anyone or anything that could lead us to some kind of clue or answer, or secondly, we could attempt to locate the Crystals of Iniquity, assuming of course that they've not up and disappeared as well."

Cham seemed to have saw something out of the corner or his eyes as he turned to face it, but then, he stopped, staring at nothing. His head darted back to the other side again, as if something had raced by. "What on Dragonia..." he muttered then reached a hand up and took hold of a piece of his hair that had fallen on the corner of his eyes. "Why is my hair black?" he said looking up at Kihaku.
He did not remember his hair being black before. Then again, with the whole world almost turned upside down, this wouldn't have looked so odd had Cham not lived with brown hair his whole life.
