Kihaku was sitting in the lounge for the contestants, his feet up on the table as he prostrated himself out on the sofa. Nirvana and Oblivion, never far from his side, were on their sides and softly sleeping, the blade of the Oblivion gently hidden within the long staff, the Nirvana resting lazily within it's sheath. Like his weapons, Kihaku didn't feel like doing much of anything but watching the matches on the television, rather enjoying a few of them. He laughed quite a bit at the fight between Kilix and the little fuzzball. It was quite humorous to think that such a strong, rabid warrior couldn't take down the little tuft of fluff that waved about a stick rediculously to summon others to fight for it.
He snorted. Cowardly. Weak. Pathetic. Just a few choice words surfaced when he thought about the Mogwai's fighting style. Granted, his stature prevented full on close range combat, but still, if he needed others to fight for him 24/7, then he shouldn't have entered in the first place. If he DID win, it wouldn't be his skill as a fighter, it just meant he knew what fighters to use in order to win. As a leader of mindless automatons, then yes, he would win the tournament hands down. As a fighter, as this entire fiasco was set up to be, he had lost before he'd even signed up.
That Musashi though... Perhaps Kihaku hadn't given him enough credit. After experiencing first hand the power of a saiyan, he was surprised that Hakuto was still in one peice. Granted, he'd never actually fought the mechanoid before, but that was alright to him. Right now, he was so tired of fighting that he was sorta glad for the break in the constant drone of fighters.
Ryan... he'd missed the match. The time had come and gone, and he'd no doubt be disqualified from the tournament. It's not that Kihaku was disapointed that his opponent hadn't showed, he was glad for the respite, but then again, he wasn't because he'd been so looking forward to fighting a warrior with a reputation such as the Jiaomiasu had. Indeed, it preceeded him, and now that his chance was lost, Kihaku was just a little perturbed.
The television suddenly cut out, and Kihaku glared at it for a moment before finally chucking some kind of choclaty snack food that'd been laid out for the contestant's consumption. Several peices missed the screen, but the ones that didn't ended up sticking to the screen, covering the pixelated box with a smattering of brown points of darkness. Now he was out one fight, and had a dirty television. Wonderful. "Fanfuckingtastic."

Cham walked into the lounge for contestant throwing his gloves at the wall and took the seat next to Kihaku. "Fanfuckingtastic," He said under his breath, something he heard Kihaku say often. "I dont believe this, my guy was a no show! How am I supposed to get stronger if I dont have someone to fight against? I dont wanna win like this!" Cham said folding his arms and leaning back in his chair. "What was my opponants name? Aiden or Aikmen, or something like that, how could he just... not show up?" Cham said quite a bit pissed off.

Kihaku gave a sideways glance towards his young protogee. Perhaps he was taking his lessons far too much to heart, or was it because Kihaku was the only thing that the young man had to compare what is acceptable in society. At anyrate, he'd have to talk to him about that sometime. Eventually. "I know what you mean. Ryan, a great Jiaoimasu warrior apparently, didn't even show up for mine either." Kihaku shrugged, standing up to wipe off the screen with a few napkins. "Perhaps the pair of them were off doing something. Magic, cards, who knows."
Heaving a monumental sigh, he plopped back down into his seat, this time looking right at the young man, noticing the sour tone written all over his face. "You're becoming less pleasant to be around all the time. Your mood has turned for the worst, you're speaking less and less, and now you're swearing openly when upset." He smiled and rubbed his chin with a gloved hand. "A few more months, and who knows, I might just have you working on some kind of new technique. Something a little more to the point than Channeled Force," he held up a sudden finger, "I intend to study and learn."

Cham shook his head. "What am i swearing to?" he asked genuinly confused. He often heard Kihaku saying these words so he figured it was just another word to express during furstrations, like when Cham wasnt learning fast enough. He shook it off and put it aside.
"Something more to the point than Channeled Force? I dont know much of anything other than Channeled Force... you mean, what kind of techniques will you be teaching me?"

Kihaku looked over at Cham and smiled. "Well, since you're SUCH a good guy, I was thinking about letting you in on some of the secrets of chaos. If not the darker parts, then at least basic components." He reached into his belt and pulled out two stones, one white, the other black. They were oblong, elliptical spheres, one seeming to be bright enough to blink at, while the other was so black that it seemed to suck the very light out of the area around it.
"Look at these, the Yin Yang Talismans. When they're appart, you can see what they represent, Yin for light and purity, Yang for darkness, corruption. However, why do we need both? What is the significance of having one with the other, and why is it important?"

"Because it's impossible to have one without the other." Cham said flatly. He didnt know much about the world but he figured that as much. Thinking that that wasnt a good enough answer, Cham went on. "Just like my Channeled Force ability. It mends and heals wounds, but the opposite version still exists. Everything must have a balance, light, dark, happy, sad. You cant have one without the other because then the other would make no sense." Cham said shrugging.

Kihaku kept them out, but instead placed them on the table. When he let go, four feet apart, they instantly shot towards one another and stuck. "You've almost got it Cham. Why is there evil in men's hearts? Why do we die and cease to exist? Why do good and bad things happen to bood and people?" He crossed his arms over his chest and looked at him with a stone hard gaze. "Think before you answer boy. Get it wrong, and I'll kick your ass with training until you get it. Why do things die if they were given life to begin with?"

"But sir, that's like asking me the secrets to the universe..." Cham said genuinly thinking as hard as he could. "If I had to take a stab at it, I would say that there is no evil in a person's heart. It's all about perception really. People do things because they believe it's right, and those who try and stop him or her are the evil ones, but on the other way around, those people who wish to stop him, truely think that what he is doing is an act of evil." Cham said with a nod.
Continuing on with the questions, Cham attempted to take more stabs. "Bad things happen to good people because that which doesnt kill us can only make us stronger. If we spend our lives with only good things coming towards us, though i cant see it as possible, then we would be living very... useless lives." Cham said his emerald green eyes seeming to get brighter by the moment.
"And... I dont believe that when we die, we ceast to exist. But I dont know that for sure, because I havent died. I dont know how anyone could entirely know what happends when we die." Chameleon whipsered. "I would like to think that everything will be okay when we die... but I dont know, and I also dont know how you can expect me to answer these questions. If you wish to punish me for my answers, then there is nothing I can do but take that punishment. But as for the questions, it is what I believe, and that is what is reality to me at least."

During Cham's explination, Kihaku's face had stared to drift away, looking more towards the center of the room than towards his young protoge. The philosophical assumptions and moral arguements that Cham were making sank their teeth deep into Kihaku's mind, forcing him to ponder all of them at once, while also sharp enough to demand all the attention he could muster. Though his stoic mask did not betray his feelings, his insides were roiling with new ideas and welling pride for the youth. "Boy... you have the right of it. I must admit, that you threw in a dash of your own unique optimism, but you definitly had the gist of it."
Reaching forward with an audible exhaling of breath, he continued on Cham's point by including his own cynicism into the already happy mish mash. "But you also have to think, if things didn't die, what would man eat? If you cannot kill plants or animals, then people universally would starve to death, but again not really, for they themselves could not die. They would live on in constant agony and sickness, for their bodies would be unable to kill the micro organisms that cause illness, famine would ensue, until the world is a big mess of anguish. On quite the other note," he held up a black gloved finger for emphasis, the warm light from the lamps set about the room reflected off the shiny leather, "if you had no life, then... well... you get the picture. So it is vitally necessary for people and things to die, even if sometimes what might seem like too soon."
He crossed his arms over his chest and sucked the air through his teeth, letting it out through his nose before he spoke again. "Besides, I've got a damn good hunch that you don't cease to exist when you die. Just look at your lover angel, Shizuka. She died and became an being of light in service to a higher power, so there must be some kind of existence after life. I dunno how interesting it is, but its gotta be better than this." He gave a bitter chuckle as a dark thought crossed his mind, though from what depths it came from, he didn't quite know. It was almost as if a part of his past was trying to come free, words leaping to his lips unbidden. [glow=black,2,300]"At least Hell's eternal lake of fire is more interesting than sitting, dying of immense bordom."[/glow]

"Shizuka?" Cham said with an after thought. "She's not dead... I fought her the other day so she cant have been dead then... and... what's an angel?" Cham asked now genuinly confused. His people didnt believe in a God or servents as thus. He didnt even know such a thing was possible. "You said something about serving a higher power before... who is this higher power?"

Kihaku gave a laugh at how naieve his desciple was, as if the dead couldn't come back to fight for something they believe in. "Allow me to let you in a few secrets of the universe boy." He snorted a laugh. "We both know you could seriously use some. Okay... how should I put this..." He caressed his temple momentarily before deciding how to continue.
"People die. We know that, others know that, and it's a fact of life. However, it is simply their body that dies. Their spirit lives forever and goes to either eternal damnation if they've been bad in the unending fires of Hell, or live forever upon the clouds of paradise in Heaven if they've been good and righteous." he put out his arms like a pair of scales, lowering one and raising the other as if to emphasise his points. "And finally, if someone like me has unfinished business within the realm of the living, they simply don't leave. Now, your friend Shikuza is an angel, something that is most precious."
He stood and crossed his arms over his chest, trying to remember exactly who worked for whom. "An angel is someone who works for the creator of the universe. They're the purest of the pure, and whether their lives were long or short, peaceful or violent, so long as their hearts were pure and goodly, they are given a permanent spot on the right hand of God, Creator of everything." That was really all he had to say about the good ones, though where this knowledge came from, he didn't know.

"Damnation in the fires of Hell?" Cham said in a whisper. "For evil people?" Cham said now genuinely worried. He didnt like the sound of being in a place with a lot of fire, punishement, forever. But he was evil... was this what really awaited him when he died? He thought about Shizuka, if he was pure and kind and good, should he even be around her? He could destroy her, end up hurting her. She was a right hand person of the creator of the universe, the one who granted life in heaven or hell. If this creator found her assotiated with an evil person like him, what would that do to her?

Kihaku shrugged. "It is but a trifle really. You're not as evil as you think, and I'll tell you why." He sat back down and poked him in the chest, making sure he had the boy's attention. "If you truly regret having taken a life at all, even if not the reason why, then you are not evil. You've done something evil by your civilization's standard, but not by God's. Believe me, it takes a few lives and for selfish reasons in order to deserve being deemed evil.
Now I, on the other hand, get the feeling about myself that I'm neither good nor evil, somewhere in between. I am a Chaos Spirit, unfinished business and righting wrongs and wronging rights are my job, my goal in life thus far is to regain my memories." He clenched his fist and stared at it. "Once I do... I can finally realize my full potential and remember who I was."

Cham sorta squirmed a bit. "A Chaos spirit..." He said remembering his lessons when he was young. "I've heard about Chaos Spirits... I dont remember what I was taught about them though," He said thinking. "It was so long ago when I was a young child... i cant remember anything but the name." Cham gave a shrug as he passed it off.
"I'm... not evil?" He said going back to the topic at hand. "You mean, I can still be a good person?"

Kihaku nodded sagely, though he knew he was anything but. With his arms crossed over his torso, he continued to stare off into nothingness. As he stared off into the deep ether of his mind, the question his young protoge posed rang in his head. He responded automatically, though his tone was calm, if a little condescending. "Of course you're not evil you idiot. Why do you think I was suprised you latched on to me so quickly? You never stopped being good, even when you tried to barter for my helping you, you worked tirelessly and never ceased to try and pleased me. You sincerely wanted me in a good mood, and you got a sense of satisfaction out of it.
And on another topic," He waved lightly with his hand in the direction of the city, "you are chivalrous around women. You hold the door open, you say 'please' and 'thank you' all the time, and you even refused to fight Shizuka." Kihaku smirked and gave a small chuckle. "The marks of a true gentleman, Chameleon. If I were of a lighter disposition I might feel inclined to be pleased by that fact. However, you wanted me to make you into a fighter, and by being disappointed you won by default, I'd say my lessons are getting through that thick skull of yours."
